Jay & Laura Callaghan

Serving with AIM Borderless Canada in Halifax

Jay & Laura have been serving with Africa Inland Mission since April 2004.

They have served amongst the Gabra & Boran people groups in the Marsabit district of Northern Kenya and later lived and ministered amongst the Samburu in Maralal district, also in the remote north of Kenya. Although not living with the Samburu, their hearts remain praying for the Samburu to come to know Jesus. The Callaghans are privileged to continue work amongst the Samburu. Since 2015, Laura has organized medical outreach through “The Least of These” Health Project. This project employs a community health worker who coordinates care, visitation, referral and transport to the hospital, for those who most need care. The project focuses on the most vulnerable (widows, orphans, children, sick) and looks to improve or facilitate travel to already funded health opportunities (examples could be supporting children to access the SMILE surgery for cleft lip/cleft palate; organizing children/adults to be fitted for prosthetic limbs; supporting elderly for cataract, glaucoma surgery/care, providing visitation and referral to the TB program). Amin shares the Gospel as he travels to accompany these patients to hospital.

The Callaghans are currently serving in Nova Scotia, with AIM Borderless Canada. Their ministry is focused on outreach to newcomer and refugee communities in Nova Scotia; including Int’l Student Ministries, Camp Soar – a one-week camp for the children of African refugee and immigrant families in Halifax/Dartmouth, and Club Soar, a camper follow-up and connection club.

Jay and Laura have five children: Nathan (age 21), Luke (20), Lily (18), Jesse (13) and Evie (10).
