I will be serving as an intern at Rift Valley Academy from August 2026 to July 2027.
My role will be to work alongside the other interns to support the existing missionary staff, allowing them to focus more fully on their primary responsibilities at RVA and maintain a healthier balance. Through this role, I will be involved in cross-cultural ministry and gain exposure to various areas of service at RVA, including activities, dorm life, and teaching.
As part of the team, some of my responsibilities may include:
– Meeting weekly for team worship, language and culture study, accountability, and goal setting.
– Being available to mentor and disciple students.
– Organizing and leading after-school and weekend activities for students, including Caring Community, class sponsorship, Sunday school, venue and variety nights, dorm coverage, sports coaching or clubs, music tutoring, and chaperoning trips to town or the airport.
– Engaging with the broader community through outreach partnerships with local churches, the hospital, and schools.
– Collaborating with RVA staff to support student life initiatives, serving as an additional source of encouragement and practical help.
– Evaluating and debriefing the internship experience with an RVA staff member serving as the intern coordinator.
Additionally, serving as an intern provides numerous opportunities to disciple TCKs and other students through everyday interactions. This role builds on the relationships already established by staff while offering a fresh perspective. It will also provide valuable exposure to missions, service, and other ministry opportunities across the continent.
