Tim and Susan have been serving with AIM Canada in the DR Congo since 1982, initially full time (1982-1996, first at Oicha, then in the town of Beni), and since 2003 on a part-time short-term basis, mostly in Bunia.
Susan has used her nursing degree and experience in various ways, especially in health teaching for pre and post-natal care, and more recently with AIDS and palliative care. She has also been involved with women’s discipleship through the local churches that we have been part of in Congo.
In the early years Tim was involved in Theological Education by Extension and other non-formal church leadership training opportunities, as well as a French language CECA church plant in the town of Beni. Since 2006 he has taught several missions courses at Shalom University in Bunia (USB), and an occasional course at the Bilingual Christian University of Congo (UCBC) in Beni.
They currently live in Redcliff, AB, where Tim serves as interim pastor as opportunity arises and as adjunct faculty at Briercrest College in Saskatchewan.
They have four married children and 7 grandchildren: Judy (Jeremy, Johanna, Anaya), Mark (Amy, Danny, Jack, Andrew), Sarah (Adam, Naomi, Emelyn), and Paul (Melissa).
Update August 2023 – Tim has just returned from a six week teaching assignment in Bunia, DRC.
